UNITED WAY HOLDS ITS FIRST EVENT OF THE YEAR
In their first event of the year the United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties hosted "Breakfast on the Mountain" at Windham Mountain on Thursday January 28th, 2010.
"We are focusing our attention to the outlying communities of Greene County and Columbia County in a renewed effort to include them in our work to help provide needed services that serve families", said Brad Poster, Interim President of the United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties.
Fifty two of our Greene County leaders, town supervisors and officials', school superintendents, community service organizations, local foundations, and prominent business people attended the presentation.
The agenda included New York State Assemblyman Pete Lopez and directors of four, local, United Way funded agencies.
Speaking at the event was Kim Seevers, Director of the Adaptive Sports Foundation; Davia Montie, Director of the Columbia-Greene Therapeutic Riding Center; Jeff Rovitz, Director of the Mental Health Association of Columbia and Greene Counties; and Florence Ohle, Director of the Community Action of Greene County.
This meeting served the United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties as part of its two-year strategic plan with the goal to double the monies allocated from $100,000 in 2009, to $200,000 in 2011.
The goal of the meeting was to find new agencies in the mountain communities that meet the mission the United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties and which might qualify for funding.
Special recognition and appreciation to our generous sponsors: Windham Mountain, The Bank of Greene County, Legacy Banks, and Henke Warren Insurance Agency.
